Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Durgapur Steel Plant, has announced 3 vacancies for Consultant (Sports Coach). Candidates with a Diploma or higher degree in Sports Coaching from NSNIS, or national / international sports medal or participation are eligible. The maximum age is 64 years as on 09 October 2026. - 2Fill in Annexure-A (Application for Engagement of Consultants (Sports Coach) on Tenure Basis, page 4 of the notification) in capital letters, paste one recent passport-size colour photograph and sign across it. No other form of application will be accepted.
- 3Keep the original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies ready. Candidates without originals will not be allowed to appear.
- 4Report on 27 October 2026 between 10:00 AM and 01:00 PM at the Centre for L&D, Durgapur Steel Plant, Durgapur-713203, West Bengal. No TA/DA is admissible for appearing at the walk-in interview.

Q. How do I apply, and is there a fee?
A. There is no online application and no fee. Bring the filled Annexure-A with photograph, original documents and self-attested photocopies to the walk-in.
Q. What is the tenure of the engagement?
A. The tenure is 1 year, extendable twice by 1 year each, up to a maximum of 3 years.
- The engagement is purely on tenure basis: initially 1 year, extendable twice by 1 year each at the Company's discretion on satisfactory performance, up to a maximum of 3 years. There is no bar on re-engagement. It is a temporary engagement and gives no right to regular appointment.
- The remuneration is a consolidated monthly figure for a minimum of 6 hours a day, six days a week, and is pro-rated if fewer or more hours are worked. No PF or Gratuity is paid.
- Ex-SAIL employees may retain allotted accommodation. Other ex-employees can get Company accommodation (2 BR or equivalent) on payment if available. Rent and electricity/water are payable, and no HRA is paid. Medical: ex-SAIL employees keep their ex-employee benefits; non-SAIL ex-employees get medical benefits for self only at Company hospitals.
- Leave is 10 days a year with prior approval. TA/DA for the engagement is as per the lowest Executive cadre under the SAIL Travelling Allowance Rules-2021 (ex-SAIL employees per the grade they superannuated in). Services may be needed beyond normal hours during sporting events, with no extra pay.
- Either party can end the engagement on one month's notice. The Company may terminate forthwith for medical unfitness, poor performance, moral turpitude, conviction, insolvency, loss of license, grave misconduct or financial irregularity. DSP may reject any application, cancel the candidature or the whole process, or admit fewer coaches than indicated. The decision is final, and the court of jurisdiction is Durgapur.
